The Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences remains dedicated to supporting the campus population. We are actively practicing social distancing, which means we remain open for business but we are limiting the number of students, faculty and staff on campus. At this time, we are currently working to provide assistance virtually or by phone. The A. R. Smith Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences is housed in Garwood Hall at 525 Rivers Street, across the street from the Varsity Gymnasium and adjacent to the new parking deck and Suite 108 Edwin Duncan Hall (Fermentation Sciences). The Main Departmental Office is in GWH 417.

If you try to register for Chemistry 1110 or 1120 and you received a link to take a Reserved Seating Survey , please do not take it. The survey is no longer active. Please fill out the Permit Request Form instead. If you did take the survey, please complete Permit Request Form which you can find in the next section.
Submit your online Permit Request
- If your are currently taking the course for which you are seeking a permit, we will issue a permit to retake a lecture or a lab without knowing your final grade. Please note, however, that if you have not passed the co-requisite course you must register for both.
- Some majors require a minimum grade in certain classes in order for them to be credited towards the major requirements, please be sure to check your major requirements with your advisor prior to requesting a permit.
